About the Artist

Habtamu Tibebe, born on November 30, 1990, in Ethiopia, is an artist who believes that art serves as a profound medium for expressing ideas, emotions, and cultural values. For Habtamu, art not only reflects the history of his birthplace and the continent of Africa but also resonates with the broader narratives of the world in which we live.

Raised in Ethiopia, a nation celebrated for its stunning landscapes, rich cultural heritage, diverse languages, and its status as a cradle of civilization, Habtamu draws deep inspiration from both his Ethiopian roots and global influences. Ethiopia's unique history, including its distinction as the only African country never to be colonized, infuses his work with a sense of resilience and originality. He believes that every society, and indeed every individual, is endowed with unique gifts and distinctive approaches to pursuing wisdom and creating art.

Habtamu is a graduate of the Addis Ababa University School of Fine Arts and Design, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication (Graphic Arts). His extensive four-year study in graphic art and design has equipped him with the technical skills and conceptual tools necessary to realize his creative visions. Deeply inspired by history, nature, and global cultural narratives, Habtamu's work often draws from antique objects, historical texts, ancient stories, and his personal experiences while traveling. Through his art, he endeavors to merge the past with the present, creating works that offer a unique dialogue between different eras and cultures.
