Sara Diani
“Layers of Scale”
Opening Reception: 2/1/2025
Layers of Scale is a surreal trip through emotion and memory, where papaver blooms symbolize desire, escape, and transformation. As an Afghan-American, I reflect on assimilation and displacement—experiences that shaped my sense of self in both positive and negative ways. The natural restrictions of assimilation sparked daydreaming and escapism, leading me to create a surreal perspective of myself as I navigate the hallucination of identity and transformation.
