Holly Ahrens - "Midnight Oil"

Midnight Oil delves into the nocturnal rhythms of urban life, capturing the quiet moments and hidden details that often go unnoticed in our busy days.

These paintings explore the familiar, the passage of time, and the human experience. By focusing on everyday transportation, these works feature the movement of the DMV.

Through the use of dark color palettes and light reflective surfaces, the aim is to evoke a sense of solitude, contemplation, and nostalgia.

The Organic Canvas: Farm-to-Frame, Paint, Plant, and Sip: I Love Houseplants Edition

As summer ends, this Paint, Plant, and Sip will focus on houseplants and design exclusively for Children and Young Teens. In a unique blend of art and for the love of houseplants, Gardening and Beats, Black Box Botanical and Station 3510  proudly present The Organic Canvas: Farm-to-Frame, Paint, Plant, and Sip: I Love Houseplants Edition. This one-of-a-kind event specifically designed for children ages 5 to 14 is an innovative art experience that allows young artists to explore their creativity by painting on pots using vegetables and fruits to create their own unique houseplant pot, then planting a small houseplant to take home with them to care for and giving them their first foray into collecting houseplants. The event will occur on 9.14.24 at Station 3510 (3510 Rhode Island Ave., Mt Rainier, Maryland, from 11 AM to 2 PM). The cost for this event is $12 with a check out fee!

More than just an art event, this immersive, hands-on experience bridges the gap between nature and art. Children/Teens will use the vibrant colors and textures of farm and garden produce to craft their masterpiece pots for their very own plants. This hands-on approach nurtures their artistic skills and deepens their connection with the environment in an eco-friendly and sustainable manner, offering a delightful journey from the palette to the palate.

What to Expect:

During the painting session, participants will unleash their creativity on flower pots, guided and led by the owner of Black Box Botanical. This session is designed to be fun and interactive, allowing children to express themselves through art in a supportive environment.

Participants will also learn about the benefits of houseplants and why they are essential in our lives. This knowledge will enrich their understanding of the natural world and instill a sense of responsibility towards the environment.

Host KIMANI Anku will delight the young participants

with a specially crafted Kid's MOCKTAIL: The GREEN Joint

NEW: As the participants paint and plant, they can participate in a LIVE interactive plant concert from 'The Sprout Symphony ', a unique musical experience where plants create music through a process called 'plant bioacoustics '. You have to be there to witness this!
